A healthy young female reported having pain on the upper left-hand side. Examination and history revealed that she had a tooth which had undergone root canal therapy and has been retreated 3 times. Assessment of the tooth reveals a vertical fracture. Surrounding dentition was of sound health. The patient was under some time restrictions as she was getting married in 4 months time and wanted to be able to smile for her wedding photos.
Options of a partial denture, bridge work and implant supported crowns were offered. The surrounding teeth were of good health and were unrestored. The patient did not want her surrounding teeth damaged and wanted a fixed solution. Hence a dental implant was decided as the course of treatment.
Treatment Carried Out
Due to slight reduction in bone height, a closed sinus lift was performed. The surrounding bone was condensed to produce excellent stability during implant placement and allow for a shorter healing time and sooner restorative completion. Once the tooth was restored, some in-house bleaching of all the teeth was performed to create the final vibrant smile.
